Facilities

Main Stage

Walk around the ring road past each camp zone inside the Camp Ground and at the end you'll find the main stage area. A tent, a bar, a stage and one of the greatest selections of talent you'll see all year. If it's cold our local heroes Dennis and Sheenagh will light a bonfire for you to gather round or you can dance like the bejesus in the nude……whatever you like.

Wave Rock Weekender Festival Hub

This is located at the main bar tent, and this is where you can get basic non-food supplies, information and good looking Wave Rock merchandise.

Cinema

The Wave Rock Weekender Cinema will show a unique and enlightened program of arthouse, environmental, desert-themed, and classic films, 24 hours a day for the duration of the event. Western Australian made short films will be also featured. The cinema is indoors, and you'll be able to sit on a bean bag and eat lollies while you enjoy the film feast. A full program will be posted on the Program page of the website closer to the show.

Wave Rock Downbeat Disco & Campfire Jams

Keep an ear out for late night music under the rock and campfire jams

Bar Facilities

The main stage bar will serve alcohol until about 1:00AM. Respectfully priced drinks will be sold. The show is strictly an 18+ event, and Australian photo Id will be required for entry. No alcohol can be brought into the Wave Rock Weekender or the Camp Ground. Bringing alcohol into the show contravenes our license, affects waste recovery, and puts the event in jeopardy. All alcohol will be confiscated. A bar menu will be posted on the Facilities page of the website when it is finalised.

Food and Cooking

You'll need to bring money to pay for food at the show.

An ATM is available at the roadhouse in town which is open from 7:00AM to 9:00PM, and EFTPOS is available at the Wave Rock Caravan Park Kiosk from 8.30AM until 9.00PM for a small administration fee.

In keeping with our waste management goals for the event, all disposable containers for food and drink sold within the show site will be fully compostable, and should be disposed of accordingly in our special bins. You are also welcome to bring your own clean, reusable plates, cups and containers and get your food served in them to minimise waste.

You'll have a few different food options:

There will be food vendors in the camp ground. We'll make sure the food is good and there are vegetarian options. If you have any concerns about what will be on offer, feel free to Contact Us.

The Camp Ground has 8 common BBQs you can use to cook for yourself. You can bring food with you, or shop at the Hyden Trading Co. supermarket which will be open from 8:00AM to 6:00PM Saturday.

If it's absolutely necessary for you, you can bring a small gas stove for cooking on your camp site. Please be careful and considerate of other people.

Fires and heating

The event operates safe communal fires to keep you warm at night.

Expert local pyrotechnicians will tend the fires for you.

For safety reasons, no other fires will be allowed.

Supplies

Even if we're providing your tent, you'll need to bring all other camping equipment and supplies with you. We'll be selling emergency supplies and attractive event merchandise at our festival hub, relocated to the main bar tent this year, and also the place to come for any information you need during the show.

Ablutions

There are enough male and female toilets and showers for everyone, and there will be enough lighting for you to find them easily in the dark.

Most are centrally located behind the main stage and on the edge of the Camp Ground, check the site map to find them. Please respect the environment and your fellow campers and keep your showers short.

Waste Disposal

Our waste management goal for the festival this year is to divert 85% or more waste from landfill, and to minimise the amount of waste we generate by staging the show.

You guys play a big part in helping us reach that target, and here's what you need to know...

Our bin stations have three types of bins, here's where stuff goes:

Green Marked Bin: Compostable – includes all bar and café drink cups and food containers, food waste, and wet paper and cardboard.
Orange Marked Bin : Recyclable – includes clean paper, cardboard, plastic, our personal ashtrays (empty), glass, aluminium and steel cans.
Red Marked Bin: Other – includes ceramics, dirt, chemicals, rubber, and cigarette butts.

Other things to note:

  • Disposable Cups from the bar are not plastic! Put them in the Compostable Bins!
  • Disposable Hot Food Containers are not plastic! Put them in the Compostable Bins!
  • Cigarette butts: Please don't drop your cigarette butts on the ground - we can give you a No Butts personal ashtray instead. The ashtrays are available from the festival hub and bar, and are made of a heat resistant plastic that can be reused or recycled. Empty your butts into the Red Bins, and wash and reuse the ashtrays or put them in the Recyclables Bins.
  • Please try to minimise bringing packaged products that will end up in the rubbish into the event site from home or local shops.

If you're unsure about anything, please ask our staff or a camp monitor.

It's crucial to the outcomes of the show that you think about the right bin to use before you throw stuff away. We

know you'll get it right!

For more information on our waste recovery initiative see the Environment section.

Only CDMA/3G mobile telephones will have any coverage at Wave Rock. The show is small, and we'll have message boards at each camp zone so you shouldn't have any problems hooking up with your friends. Think of it as an opportunity to tune out for the weekend!

There is a public phone in the camp ground so you can ring home and tell people how much fun they're missing out on. There is an internet station in the kiosk in the camp ground if you need to log on.

Accessibility

The Wave Rock Weekender site is mainly flat, compacted sand and loose gravel. We'll do what we can to assist anyone in a wheelchair to get around the site, and will seek to improve the event's wheelchair accessibility in future years.
